First, welcome to the site... I haven't said hi yet!

Second, personally, I will not give my Oscar anything I find in the yard. The main reason is chemicals. You don't know what that little creepy crawly thing has crawled through... I don't want to feed my baby something like that and make it sick. Go get some nice meal worms - they have the SUPER ones that are nice and fat!

Just my thoughts!

I dig up worms once in a while.. he got a big one tonight and spent sometime showing off and swimming around with his 'trophy' hanging out of his mouth. lol

I wouldnt advise feeding them anything unless you know whats in your ground and whether its potentially poisonous for them.

Yeah I don't feed anything that I don't know exactly what it is, and even then I worry about pesticides.

I only give him worms that come from my backyard. I dont use any sort of chemicals back there so I know hes not going to get anything nasty.

It depends on how thick the insect is. If its worm size and isnt posionous then you will be ok, but you dont want to put it in if its too big (thick).

Insects are great food for oscars. In the wild oscars eat insects.
