You could do this but trout pellet is renowned for having a high oil content.
I done extensive feed trials with fish feed at college and alot of trout pellets are unsuitable and are more suitable for fishing baits.

Stick with the Hikari this has everything your fish needs inc vitamins etc etc

Actually, some carp fisheries have now banned the use of trout pellets because they are thought to contribute to liver damage in fish.

I would stick to cichlid pellets

An oscar has its colour, 'colour enhancing' pellets usually contain prawn/shrimp in them which can increase the brightness of the colours of your fish (pelicans eat these and that is why they are pink). Not feeding 'colour enhancing' food will NOT make a fish dull

This is because the fishery's have no way of regulating the quality of the trout pellet being thrown into their lakes.
Like I said before some of these trout pellets have massive amounts of oil
This coats the inside of the fishes with oil and leads to liver damage and digestion problems like you say.

Oil in very small amounts if fine....but to much leads to problems.
Depends on the quality of the pellet.
