About two weeks ago I purchased two baby tiger oscars, at about 1.5 inches. Their colors are still kinda drab at this point, and I can tell that the orange is hardly even visible, and the black isn't that dark. What diet would you recognmend to being out their full color potential?

Hakari Gold, or Bio Gold. And earthworms, and shrimp, there are several others that aren't coming to mind, but these are the BIG ONES!!!

If your Oscars are still young then their colours will change dramatically as they get older. You may be better off waiting until they get their adult colours and then give them foods that may enhance the colours. I have used the so-called colour enhancing foods before, but I can honestly say I've noticed any difference.

Thanks! I bought hikari gold pellets as I have heard good things about it, and I have been feeding them brine shrimp, bloodworms, and beef heart...hopefully they will color up soon!

Once they develop you can try foods that contain large amounts of carotenoids, such as Krill--(and of course the pellets)

"Astaxanthin is the carotenoid that gives wild salmon its deep pink or vibrant red color. Carotenoids are fat-soluble pigments that give red-orange-yellow color to fruits, vegetables, egg yolks, the aforementioned wild salmon, steelhead trout, shellfish (e.g., shrimp and lobsters), and the feathers of birds, notably brilliant pink flamingos. Fish and fowl alike get their red-yellow-orange hues from eating large quantities of carotenoid-rich aquatic plants, such as algae and plankton."

Krill consume this algae as well.

colour enhancers are just that, they enhance colours. They do not make an oscar with very little colour have loads more, just what they have brighter. As OFL says there colour will chance a lot as they mature. Just wait for them to grow and see how their colour comes out

if i may add, color enhancer will not work at all if you have poor water quality
thus...good water parameters plus varied foods will surely make your oscar's color
vibrant and beautiful...
