So I went to a specialty fish breeder's store the other day.

He had a 15" Wild Oscar for sale!

I was in love when I saw the big guy. He was only $25.00 too! I was so tempted, but I just don't have the tank space for him. A shame, he was a beautiful fish.

I hope my 3 get that big, my big guys are at 10" after a about a year of having them!

Have you been feeding him the same amount? Try feeding him an extra time a day, or even switch his diet up to some live food every once in a while. Mine are still growing like there is no tomorrow. My newest oscar, about 3 months old now, has grown 4 inches almost since I got him. He is catching up with my big guys!

Ya i have many food for them, to start i got shrimp pellets, hikari gold, and hikari staple, also cichild sticks which are my fav, and lastley some shit my uncle gave me its called cichild essentials. And every day i probly feed him one LIVE super worm which i dont like cause he eats one and craps two out which sloat and i have to catch them. But i think he is allready of a good size im not trying to get my oscar to be a super monster.

Ha, that's where we differ then. I want 3 sea monsters in my tank, and they're coming along nicely! I like big fish.

I agree with the big fish. I primarily feed mine cichlid gold pellets, bloodworms and brine shrimp. Try to feed em at least twice a day if not 3 times. Can't wait til they're big enough to chill on the couch and watch adult swim with me. HAHAHA.

lol i feed my oscar more than three times a day, so idk how he isnt huge. Infact i might be over feeding him sometimes. But dont get me wrong i love huge fish but i dont want to rush his groth. When im older i would love to have a huge tank with a 2 foot arowana.

Same with my latest Oscar. He's gained so much size in the months i have him, that his lenght allmost equals the lenght of my red.
His body mass is still quite a bit smaller than my red.
My red will turn 2 in august, but is still growing and getting more massive.
I think it's normal for oscars to keep growing until they're at least 2,5 years old.
Our fish don't grow too big, our tank becomes too small!

Please dont encourage MATT to feed his fish more food. He is way overstocked and will have enough trouble keeping his water good as it is. This may explain why his oscar is small for its age!!!!
I can't get no sleep

He shouldn't be.

He should be still growing by leaps and bounds if he is only 8 inches. I suspect the tank situation is stunting his growth, which can lead to more health problems later if he makes it to 'later.' Anyways, really try and be careful with overfeeding. I find it difficult to not overfeed on occasion myself, and I have a sneaking suspicion you are overfeeding alot.

That doesn't mean that you are not overfeeding, oscars can eat a lot so he may be able to eat all the food even if it is way too much. Just something to remember.
