Has anyone had experience with crushed coral in a fresh water?

I read somewhere that it can be added to substrate to help maintain a higher pH. A while back, I added some "amazon" style drift wood to the tank which seems to have permanently lowered the pH to between 6 and 6.2.

I'd like to try and maintain it in the more normal range. Fish are totally happy, but, I just want to make sure the stay happier

Thoughts, ideas, suggestions?

Cheers,

To be completely honest I would leave it at 6 as long as it is stable... Here is why I say that. If something happens and you have ammonia show up in your tank, the ammonia is far less toxic with a PH of 6 over a PH of say 8... So as long as it is stable I would leave it low.

I second what Nickie-Sue said. Plus it can be very difficult to balance driftwood with coral and get close to 7.

You are lucky to be able to get your Ph to 6 with driftwood. My tap PH is high and i have to live with high Ph.
