TOPIC: Theres a redish color coming out from the gills

Theres a redish color coming out from the gills 1 year, 9 months ago #107838

Hi. I'm new in this forum and I have 2 3-year old albino oscar... One of my albino color is changing to lite black including the fins. And just recently a continuous reddish color is coming out of the gills but has stop for now. And my other concern is I think the fish is already blind. Is the fish sick or not???

I did not get any pictures when that happened... The oscar opened his mouth widely like getting a deep breath and then that's when it happened. And I forgot to tell recently the oscar that I'm talking about almost died a week ago because my brother pulled the plug of the bubbles and the filter for about 24 hours and the fish almost died... luckily the fish just recovered and started to have black colors on the fins...

Can you please tell us about your set up... How big is your tank? What fish are all in there?

What are your water readings for Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate and PH?
What filter are you running?

Well hopefully its just pigmentation, although I believe reddish streaks around the gill area can also be a big cause for concern in that they can also be indicative of the presence of chlorine or high ammonia. Definitely need a pic and some tank specs...

If your filter was turned of for 24 hours your tank is no longer cycled. Can you test the water and post the actual result (use the bottle types not the strips). In the meantime daily 25% water changes are needed
