LOL Okay, so I've noticed something a lot lately when I'm feeding my O, Jack Black, his Hikari pellets. I drop them into the water one or two at a time, and he grabs them and waits for more. He literally stuffs his mouth as full as it can get. LOL There are times when I feed him that he gets so greedy he takes (probably) more than he can eat! He will pull all of the pellets into his mouth and even grab onto one with his lips (LOL is that what you even call them???) Anyway, he's a little glutton, and it's funny as shit to watch him. Also, another thing he does is I'll drop one of those frozen cubes of krill or bloodworms into the water, and he will suck the whole damn thing into his mouth and take off with it, instead of pulling off pieces. What's hilarious is that I think it gives him brain freeze so he ends up spitting it back out. Someday I'm going to have to get a video of this! I get such a kick out of it.

And no, he doesn't have another O that he is competing for food with. All there is in the tank with him is a very shy rubbernose pleco (who by the way, doesn't seem to be growing AT ALL.)

I have noticed this too. Mine gulps them and resumes begging immediately.

Of course he could be just greedy but I swear its because he knows that if he looks like he swallowed them I'll drop more in right away. If he's chewing them I wait until he's done. Now I know his 'game,' I just wait him out and eventually he's forced to chew them up first.

I have a bigish bubble stone directly under the outlet from the pump of my sump filter this just happens to push heaps of bubbles in the corner where I feed Goomer he has to try and grab these dancing pellets funny as to keep him amused I thaw his frozen blood worms in a bit of his tank water and he'll search every corner of his tank till he's found every one

cheers Gazza
The purpose of life’s journey is not to arrive at the grave with a well-preserved body, but rather to Slide in Sideways, completely used up, yelling and screaming, what a ride!

Well, you can literally see inside his mouth and the mass of pellets in there. When he finally has all he can fit in there, he'll swim off to a corner or a hiding spot to chew them up, but it's so funny because he has to puff out his gills to fit all those pellets in there. Greedy little child! It's not like I don't feed him FIVE TIMES A DAY the way it is! Which, by the way, is probably why he is already the size of a two year-old Oscar. I swear I have the hugest 3 month-old Oscar on Earth! It's probably because of how often I feed him and all the treats I give him. I mean, shit! I give him more treats than my dog gets! He gets earthworms and any flying insect who makes the unfortunate mistake of entering our house along with the cubes of frozen food and now he's eating whole frozen shrimp and occasionally a $.13 feeder. (Yes, I have a 10 gal that I put them in first.) He's friggin huge!

Shakira, the pleco, on the other hand, is still the same size as when I got her. Does anyone know anything about rubbernose plecos? I put a Tetra Veggie disc in the tank every night before I go to bed, and it's gone by morning, but she hasn't even grown half an inch yet. If she doesn't hurry up and have a growth spurt, she's going to end up as an accidental meal herself!

I thaw out my bloodworms and brine shrimp in tank water. As soon as they sink, I drop em in. I usually drop in 10-12 large pellets for my big O's. They pretty much inhale them as soon as I drop em in. My little O's in the 90 I usually drop quite a few small pellets in at once. I feed them 2 blocks of bloodworms or brine shrimp. Between 6 fish, they don't usually last long. They're all under 4 inches at the moment.

I guess I have a question about this. Bloodworms don't seem like much of a meal for a 9 inch Oscar. Can I still feed them to my lutino's? Or is it a waste of time?
You ain't leading but 2 things... Jack and Shit... and Jack left town.

i believe that is normal to those "pig oscar" they grab foods as if
there is no more to come... and mind you... they grab more to the extent
that they can not close their mouth... that is why they grew very fast....

He is definitely a little piggie! But, I love him and it's actually kind of endearing! It's so much fun to feed him because of his chipmunk attitude. LOL You should see the way he inhales earthworms! Then the earthworm will try to wriggle back out of his mouth, so it looks like he has a tongue sticking out. It's so funny!

Oscar's eating habits are awesome sometimes!
