I am pretty sure one of our members had a bichir with a oscar without any problems. Win was the members name, he's no longer a member sadly so won't be able to answer himself. i am sure some of the other members will confirm he had one or not?

just make sure the bichirs are big enough not to be swallowed by the oscar.
We had another member who's bichir, whom he was baby sitting for a friend got eaten, and spit out after half digesting the bichir...

make sure the bichirs have enough place to hide in.

I was on MFK lately and the subject of the spines came up.
They members over there didn't aggree on if the backfins had real spines that could get stuck in an oscars throat.
Now who has an answer to that?
Our fish don't grow too big, our tank becomes too small!

I keep a rope fish/Reed fish with my Oscars I think this is in the bichir family....or at least closely related.

I think he is great and my Oscars just ignore him..

Tho after a little research I found this LOL

I think I will have to remove him from my Oscar tank soon but while my Oscars are the size they are everybody is happy

It always depends on the temperment of your Oscar. But I think that a bichir would do great with an Oscar from the research I have done. I would like to have one eventually. Bichirs arent very popular where I live, but I think they are cool fish.

This guy has kept bichirs with Oscars...

Did you even read my thread??? LOL I was talking about my rope fish not Bichirs like in that vid...look at the size of them of course they are going to be fine with Oscars

On the other hand my rope fish looks like food and is a member of the bichir family LOL....this was my point.

kabayan, kapag maliit at payat pa ang bichir, dilikado... pagkain ang
labas nyan he he he
(mate, if bichir is still small and slim, dangerous... end up as food he he he)
