I'd say feed in the morning if possible, that way the fish can use all the day for digesting the food.
my oscar was ready for once a day feedings when i thought it was time.
But with 5" he still ate twice a day.
At 6" he turned to once a day, at 10" every other day and lately, now 11" i feed 2 to 3 times a week.

okay thanx noddy, but when you start feeding once aday how do you go about it, as i feed alot of things like fruit prawns or mealworms , blood worms, pellets, i do give pellets in the morning, then one of the other in the evening,

i used to feed the pellets or ciclid sticks in the morning and blood, eart or mealworms in the evening.
My oscar just lost interrest in the pellets and left them floating, or tasted them and spat them out.
He only ate the worms at night, and i could never get him to eat any pellets after that.
I advice that you mix some pellets and worms, and make that into one feeding in the morning.
That way you have less risk of your oscar getting spoiled and refusing pellets.
Not that worms aren't good enough, but dry food like pellets is easier to keep and it saves you a weekly drive to the baitshop for fresh worms.

Guys, how much do you feed an Oscar? It's so hard to gauge if you have given them enough because they are always hungry. 90% of my Oscars diet is bloodworms, the rest a few pellets and vegies. I give the 4" one two cubes of frozen bloodworms a day and the big ones get about 5 cubes each which they all scoff in about 1 minute flat. Is that too much? With babies (humans) the proof of the pudding is in their growth and I can tell you my Oscars are all growing...but am I overfeeding?

If it helps, I have always fed my guys every other day since I have had them. I got them when they were about 3"-4" long.
They still eat every other day, I have just increased the amount of food I give them. I feed them in the morning as soon as I get out of bed. I have a happier day when I see them ravage food before I go to work
Cheers,
Joshua

Also keep this in mind, I have 9 mouths to feed in my tank:
5xClown Loaches
1xFlower Horn
1xBlood Parrot
2xOscars
but to that end, I feed them 9 frozen cubes of food every other day.
3xKrill
3xBlood Worms
3xBrine Shrimp
Everyone is perfectly happy with this.

I usually feed twice a day
5 or 6 medium pellets in the morning, and then a fish/shrimp/worm or 2 in in the early evening.
I just get in the routine of it, and pretty much ignore his behavior. If I used his behavior for a gauge then I'd be feeding him every 5 mins., as he begs pretty much every time I come in the room.

I am still waiting for my Red Oscar to get to the point where his appetite drops. He just seems to continue to beast during feeding times.

My red tiger is about 8.5" now, for the last month, I have been experimenting with how to feed him, different amounts, different frequencies etc... and I swear some combinations I try, I can see him be larger literally in a few days. I used to feed him exclusively pellets (chichlid gold)
When I got the other two guys is when I switched back to frozen so everyone would have a chance to eat. When I did that, I did the every other day thing, with 6, 7, 8, 9 cubes (melted) and when I increased to 8 and 9 cubes, I could literally see him grow every few days. He has grown almost an inch in 2 weeks.
The last two days, I have experimented with 5 cubes of melted frozen food once a day. That makes 10 cubes every two days, instead of 9, but they get 1/2 every day. I am seeing how they do with that now.
