pipsqueak is in bad shape. i need super help 1 year, 8 months ago #110764

so it has been like 4 days sence pipsqueak started acting funny. and last night my son yells at me and said "dad pip is pooping out gravle" so i took a good look at it lastnight and took a video of it. it isnt gravle. i wish it was but it isnt. it is Camallanus worms. i have already looked it up and i am 99% sure that this is what it is. please watch the video and let me know what you think. sorry the video isnt a great one. what are some of the best meds to fix this. please help.. and thank you so much.

if you are sure it's cammalanus, some of the senior mods or members will know what to do.
they'll chime in soon and help out.

got this though from a different site:
I have been battling something similar. I thought it was a combo of cammalanus and columnaris. This is my treatment for this, its a 20 gal. So I treated for both. First thing is I did a 10 to 20 percent water change. Then I dosed with Ick guard 2 and Fungus guard, I removed the filter pad before dosing. 8 hours later I did another 10 to 20 percent water change and this time I dosed with salt. The next day I did another 20 to 50 percent water change and I re-dosed with Ick guard 2 and Fungus guard. About 8 hours or so later I changed water once again. This time I dosed with salt again and replaced the filter pad. I lost 2 more fish the following day so I went out and bought Jungle tank buddies Parasite Clear Tabs which were highly recommended. I only half dosed and repeated the water changes. I'm now on day 5 of being free and clear of any signs of illness in that tank.""

but this was about guppys...

I am not sure on the meds, I am sure someone will comment on meds shortly. What I would do is a 50% waterchange right now, then do another 50% waterchange in 2 days... monitoring your fish the whole time. I myself try to stay away from meds as much as I can. I keep ich medicine on hand, but other than that I try to rely on water quality through waterchanges and Prime (waterconditioner).

Can you see the worms moving around?

Are they planarian worms? I have had those before... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planarian

Are those guppy babies in the background?

Same here, that's why i can't advice.

Reading the Guppy.com article, makes me believe the guppies are prone to parasites like this, and seem to be transferring to other fish...now are they guppies?

I have never seen or heard of these worms... (I was hoping for a pooping gravel video)

In my opinion, if the Jungle parasite clear worked on guppies, I don't see why they wouldn't work on an Oscar...

I have used it for intestinal parasites... And it worked... You can get that at petsmart...

But maybe someone else will have an idea... Hold on Pip... We will figure it out!

My guppies had worms...you could see them floating in the tank. I kept doing massive water changes because I thought that stress of water changes was probably the lesser of the two evils and after a few weeks I couldn't see them anymore and haven't seen them since. I ditched the gravel straight away too, it's about breaking their breeding cycle...a bit like when the kids have head lice!! I'd be interested to know what the meds are that your good lfs is giving you....

Hang in there little ps
