OK, so they are 3 weeks old now, still have not lost any more, still have somewhere around 200. Four times a day they get a soup of 4 cubes each of baby brine, brine shrimp and blood worms..that's 16 cubes each of baby brine shrimp, blood worms and brine shrimp (lucky I get them half price)...it's been increasing and changing in the size of food I put in, making sure the 3 minute rule is observed. Now that the big ones are on blood worms they are growing exponentially!!!! They play tug of war with them and suck them down like spaghetti. Latest pics...

Now.. if you ever doubted Prime's claims to remove ammonia and detox the nitrates/nitrites...then don't. As I was totally unprepared for such a breeding success the little tackers are yet to experience the benefits of a cycled tank, everything has been a little hastily done and I have kept them healthy with two 25% pwc per day using Prime. To an uncycled tank I have been adding huge amounts of microscopic food and having 200+ fish poo and wee. I have been watching their health but not testing their water so as not to have a heart attack..well yesterday I tested the water...ammonia ZERO nitrates 5ppm and nitrites at 5ppm...yet fish healthy so nothing toxic there. Thankyou Seachem. I have not touched the main filter yet, but rinse the sponge filter in tank water about every third day.

Enjoy the pics....Shazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz [img]

Only implementing everything I have learned from you guys...especially NURTURING THE WATER to nurture the fish. I don't know if I am feeding them too much - I tweek it a little each day, the three minute rule is my rule of thumb and watching for aggression or bullying. There are some slow growers that are about a third of the size of the bigger ones and they are healthy and happy too, and not missing any body parts. I figure if they are well fed they won't resort to cannibalism or fighting??? But because they are Oscars I really don't know if I am overfeeding them...because they just guts it all down....Advice anyone???

Well having them in large numbers like that creates the bonus of any bullying being spread between the lot of them rather than on one specific fish. And to be honest they live in the pet shops in tanks of 30 or so and I dont see bullying there.

I think you will be fine

They need food for development right now so long as there is no food left in the tank.
You might be able to notice if their bells become swollen you can judge how full they are this way..

Yes, they look pregnant after a feed and it is not unusual to see them with a bloodworm sticking out of their mouth and an empty blood worm casing sticking out of their bum! I don't know how the inside gets digested and the outside gets pooped, but it does...Thanks
