okay here is m problem i have to tiger oscar (milli and vanilli) 6" and 4". Before they eat anything i drop in ther tank but mainly i feed them with hikari gold and Tofin freeze dried red shrimp for treats.but lately noticed that they lost interest in the pellets, when i go close the my tank they swim near me as if they were begging for food and when i drop a pellet they just stare at it,as if they expecting me to drop a stake or a ham but sometimes they eat 2 to 3 pcs of hikari and that's it. its annuals to me beacause before they eat like a pig help pls

thanks

Welcome to the world of the Oscar fish This is something that is quite common, I cannot honestly tell you why they do it, just sometimes they seem to suddenly go off the food for no reason. Obviously the first thing you must rule out poor water quality problems, so test the water for Ammonia, nitrites, nitrate and pH. I would suggest that you don't even try and feed them for a couple of days, you may then find that the love for food overcomes stubbornness and they start eating. That is not much more I can say for the moment, so see what happens in a couple of days.

x2 for the boss.
it's a common thing for oscars to stop eating their regular diet.
I had the same with my red oscar, who refused ciclid sticks and pellets, only to eat worms and bugs for over a year.
After that he refused the mealworms and nowadays mostly eats pellets again.
either you can just not feed your o for some days, that may stir his appetite.
Or try a change in diet, with the warning, that feeding live food like worms and bugs, may easily spoil your oscar.
which may lead to him refusing pellets for all times.

one of my oscars recently stopped eating pellets. solution only feed pellets until he ate them. took a week before he started to take them in his mouth but then he spat them out. After about 10 days he was back to normal and being a glutten for them

one oscar will eat another if its fits into his mouth. If thats the case the larger will try to eat the smaller one whether you are feeding or starving them. If after a week they havent eaten and you cant stand not feeding them, then feed them a meal they will eat, then pellets for a week again
