TOPIC: Oscar Nutrition

Oscar Nutrition 1 year, 5 months ago #112387

So lately ive been focusing a lot on watchamacallit's (my oscar) nutrition. heres what he eats as of today

Homemade food: a mix of broccoli, pellets, salmon, collards, shrimp, and baby bananas. main reason for this is so that he will eat some greens though i may eventually do the starving method.

Grasshoppers and other insects i happen to find

The occassional meal of feeders. yes, they do get quarantined first. Also when the quarantine time is up im possibly considering a dose of melafix just to make sure all parasites/diseases they may have are killed

Thoughts/Comments/Questions:
if you have any thoughts, comments, or questions (good or bad) please dont hesitate to ask.
Current Tank Setup:
30 Gallon (will be upgrading very soon!):
-One Oscar (Watchmacallit) 7-8inches

woah that's a varied diet! Mine get bloodworms/prawns and cichlid gold pellets! They dislike cichlid sticks for some reason. We fed them a few earth worms at first but we found it unnecessary to put more germs in the tank for something they didn't really enjoy x

well if you know the earthworms are pesticide free then its not really adding extra germs if you rinse them first! also an oscar that doesnt enjoy earthworms!?!?! unique!

an earthworm could never be laced with pesticide because the moment it
is exposed to such chemicals it will secretes slimes to shield itself
and leave the slime behind or died if not able to shield the body...
the rule is never feed a dead earthworm unless you froze them by yourself

im not sure. excluding the shrimp and pellets its stuff we had at the house anyway. like next time he will not get salmon because there is no salmon left in the house. the grasshoppers and minnows were free

seems like a good varied diet. Do keep the feeders occasionally
I can't get no sleep
