i was reading a couple things on here then i looked at my tank (right next to me) and i see my oscar wish my algea eater in his mouth...

i read about fish getting stuck in oscars's throats and having to manualy take them out so i was terrified. (the oscar is like 1 3/4 inches and the algea eater is 1 inch, there was no way he could eat it and he already ate also!!) so i immediatly grabbed my net and tried to scoop the oscar but he got a little spooked and spit out the algea eater and swam away! and 5 seconds lter he was chasing it again!!! so i took out some food and distracted the oscar with a pellet until the algea eater could hide...

the algea eaters face is damaged and will probably die... half of its body, going headfirst, was in the oscars mouth... and he is still chasing it!!!!

im going to scoop the algea eater up and put it into a seperate small tank for now...

Unfortunately Oscars and small fish do not mix, you're not the first person to experience this, and I don't suppose you'll be the last.

i undestand that, but he's still only 3/4 inch biger..

do u think he doest it as a territorial thing? or food?

theres to things that disagree with both

with feeding.. i fed him about a half hour before and i accidently fed him about 3 pellets extra so his stomach is pretty big and full...

with territiorial.... half the algae eater was in his mouth, if it was territorial, wouldnt u just expect a fin-nip, or maybe a bite to the belly? instead of just a head on, "GET INSIDE OF ME NOW!! thing..

my oscar has "accepted" the pleco in my tank. He wont try and attack it, he just follows it and makes sure its in his spot if food gets chucked in. pleco doesnt seem to care, just spends most of its time upsidedown in my half log.

sounds like u have an uber aggressive one.

Was it actually a pleco?
Then you def did the right thing to rehome.
Seems like your oscar is quite a hungry character!
so was mine allready when he was small!

that is exactly what it looked like just my oscar was a lot smaller than that one so i was worried he might get the fish stuck, theres a tv show called a thousand ways to die and one of them was a girl was fishing and the fish jumped out of the water and into her mouth, she couldnt pull it out cuz of the scales, u see how i can relate

really Noddy, how do you have a picture that fits for every single thread there is on here haha seriusly.... do u keep an archive of pictures and scroll through them trying to find one that fits?

bad news... he passed away, i was putting new water into the old guppie tank i had set up for grim which the algae eater was in... and he swam out, i couldnt find him to net him up. by the time i did, hes was now 3/4 in grim's mouth. tailfin first. i immediatly tried to net him and the same result happened... grim spit him out and this time the algae eater just layed on the ground, grim isnt coming back for seconds, but the crawfish are devouring him...
