when i put picture backgrounds in my tank oscar doesnt like it and hides wherever it can to get away from it . have left it in for a day or so to see if it will get used to it but doesnt seem to matter and dont want to stress it out to much. has anyone else had this trouble

Try leaving the lights off for a few days. If the Oscar starts getting used to the background, start turning on the lights on for a short period and hopefully everything should be okay. I have never had this problem myself so this is just a suggestion. Somebody else may have had the same problem and therefore may have the solution for you. I would just stick in there, fish are very adaptable, if you keep taking it out every time he gets frightened, he will never get used to it.

It is a little bit like the dog and postman. Why does the dog always bark at the postman?, because the postman never stays, the dog thinks he's scaring him off. If you keep taking the background out, the Oscar will always be afraid of it when you put it back in again.

i have green wallpaper in my tank, Tiger was never afraid of it, but oscars get scared if u put something new in the tank, they will not come near it for days, but evetually everything will be fine. The oscar will get used to it.
