Welcome to our community

What sort of information are you looking for? I'm really not sure that you'll find any specific information regarding the eyesight. I can tell you that they have very good eyesight, that's why they have very big eyes,it's also probably due to the fact they often live in murky waters, they primarily use eyesight for feeding.

Here it is:

www.sciencedirect.com/science?_ob=Articl...52c&searchtype=a

And that $ 37,95, please....
And another one:

www.sciencedirect.com/science?_ob=Articl...47f&searchtype=a

Abstract

The visual acuity of a cichlid fish, Astronotus ocellatus (Agassiz), was measured by means of a conditioned visual discrimination response. The average minimum separable visual angle was 5.3 minutes, as measured in sixteen fish with at least one normal eye; this corresponded closely to the fineness of grain of the retinal receptor mosaic. In twelve fish, acuity of one experimental eye was measured after the optic tract had been transected and allowed to regenerate. The value for postregenerative acuity was then compared with a previous value for acuity of one normal eye in one and the same fish, in each case. Restoration of acuity by regenerative processes averaged 78.4%. Despite barriers such as scar tissue, regenerating optic tract fibers achieved a high degree of restoration of specific functional central connections.

I'd be interrested, but won't pay for the info...

One of mine (Bod) wears specs due to a slight astigmatism in his right eye.

He has trouble keeping them on though due to not having much in the way of ears or a nose.

I think contact lenses may be the way forward but getting him to the opticians is not an easy task

are you shock how the community responded for a broad question????

welcome on board! the community will try to give advises/comments to the
best of our knowledge based on experience...and sometimes based on the
available articles that we had come across along the way... you may need to

no kidding aside... the film in any fish eyes in captivity sometimes becomes
an indicator when one have a bad water condition in his tanks..... blurring,
or cloudy film over the eyes is always the first indication that needs
immediate attention.....which normally is directed to water quality....

some time ago i had a friend of my wife coming over and as she passed the big tank on her way out she stopped and looked at the fish.
the fish were responding, going crazy and doing their "feedmenowiamsohungry"-dance.
The girl looked up from the tank and stated: "I allways wonder, if they actually can SEE us...?"

i responded: yes,i think it's quite possible, they may see us ...
