TOPIC: My second set of results with a fish In the tank

My second set of results with a fish In the tank 1 year, 8 months ago #113234

Hi guys so I've now had my Oscar in it's tank for 10 days after 3 I did a water test theses are the results

Ph 7.5-8
Amonia 0-0.6 per mg per litre
Nitrate 20-50 ml per litres
Nitrite between 0.3-0.8

So I was told to do a water change of 25% every day i could only do it every other day because of starting sixth form so I did 35% every other day so I tested my water again today and these are the results I got

Nitrit 0.10 ml/litre
Ph 7-7.5
Nitrat 10-15 ml/litre
Ammonia 0-0.3 mg/litre

Any advice

you need to continue with water changes until the ammonia and nitRITE reads 0. keep the ammonia/nitrites as low as possibly, the higher the reading the more chance you have of you oscar becoming sick or suffering damage from the toxins

You can see from the 2 sets of tests that the results are lower after the water change. You need to keep these low. High levels of ammonia and to a lesser degree nitrate are bad for oscars. Just keep doing the water changes and dont overfeed (only what they will eat in 2 mins twice a day if your oscars are less than 6inches, once a day over that) and you should be ok. Keep testing at before a water change to make sure your levels are not slowly increasing
