Hey guys.....

Question: Ever since ive taken away crickets from my oscar (coz he was a spoilt brat) I've noticed that he has just become way way way more aggresive, at night I hear him splashing a bit, hitting the tank lid on occasion, wake up and he has moved the log in my tank, ripping the plant that has been basically in the same spot since day one. I caught him the other night grabbing the plant leaf and swimming round the plant to rip it out.

what happened? i mean he was aggressive anyway, but he's gone on destruction path as of late.

im doing a waterchange tomorrow so i will test tonight and after ive done change tomorrow to see if there is anything that could be bothering him....

do you think he is missing his pleco mate?

Thanks Guys

Tobey

What happens when you take the things away from a spoiled child?

They sulk, they b*tch, they moan.

Sounds like you should give him what he wants back.

You also have to keep in mind as oscars get more mature, they become the world's best aquatic re-decorators. It does not matter at one point where YOU want something. It only matters where they want things in THEIR home

Enjoy.

I built a TeePee looking stack of logs and put a large piece of drift wood over the TeePee, which allows safe cover for the loaches, but the Oscars cannot move it.

i like the idea of the pleco being missed.
if i where you, id give that a try, although this is just because i like plecos so much...
i space permits, get a decent sized one that will not grow too big, but can protect itself from an O's curiosity.
My oscars don't bother my plecos, and the other way around goes the same.
My o's may inspect the pleco's and what they are doing from a couple of milimeters from the plecos head and nose,(REAL close, that is...) and the pleco is used to that and doesn't respond at all!
Our fish don't grow too big, our tank becomes too small!

Oscars are smart fish. I wonder if it is boredom. When dogs get bored, they get destructive for something to do. Maybe get him some ping pong balls or toys he can't swallow to chase around the tank. Is there a Fish Whisperer?

SUSH !!! hey fishee can you hear me ?????
The purpose of life’s journey is not to arrive at the grave with a well-preserved body, but rather to Slide in Sideways, completely used up, yelling and screaming, what a ride!

Does he stop when you come in the room?

I know mine does...he probably just focuses on me b/c of the possibility of food but it sure looks like he knows he's not supposed to do that and he just got caught. Kinda like: "So?! What are you gonna do about it, pendejo?!"

Anyways, I think he misses his pleco pal.
