I was looking at pics of my little oscar that were taken about 3 1/2 months ago and he's not so little! He has grown so much! The first set of pictures are of him 3 1/2 months ago. He is the smaller fish in every picture. Sadly his beautiful golden color is gone He is now red.

This is what he looks like now...

This is him next to the big oscar who has grown but not nearly as much

The little guy is catching up! I think he will hit 10 inches within the next 8 months.

Yes, Oscars do grow very quickly, and yes, they do lose that lovely pattern may have as juveniles. However, red Oscars are among the most stunning type of Oscars you can get, especially if you get one that really shows it's red.
I may not always be right, but I am always the boss
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved

Awwww...

How adorable.

I had that oh crap moment myself!

It was between the 4 month and 8 month old mark tho.

One day, I was looking at them and said "Holy crap! They are so....... huge!"

That realization was like me getting my first oscar all over again. They were still cute, they were still awesome, and that first feeling of owning an oscar came back... Since I had that realization a second time, it hasn't left.

It has made me love my oscars even more.

After they start developing their personality, is when it gets really fun. I like interacting with them.

I hope you like your oscars as much as I like mine.

Oscars are, well..... frickin awesome.

You have a beautiful fish.

Does it have a name?
4xOscars
1xBlood Parrot
2xJDs (pair)
5xClown Loaches
1xPleco

265 Gallons (84x24x30)
36" T5 Light for shading, sunlight effects
300 Gallon rated Living Color wet-dry sump
3L of SeaChem Matrix + Bioballss, ceramic rings etc...
1xIvy for nitrate filtering

I am always looking for better ways to enhance the lives of my babies. Hit me up, let's chat about fish!

I LOVE my oscars to death! Thank you, and yes they both have names, the big one is named "Squirt" HAHA cuz he's bigger! And the littler one is named "Shayamalon" after the director "M. Knight Shyamalon" who has the coolest name in the world. I would name my kid "M. Knight Shyamalon" is my fish didn't have the name already ;P

They are extremely spoiled, they eat better than me lol. They get shrimp and all kinds of goodies, Hikari Gold... Nothing but the finest for my fish

Because the big one is a jerk and beats the little one up, so I'm going to wait until he catches up and take it out. I tried the time out thing and it didn't work, thats why the little one has all the cuts in the pic. He got his butt kicked when I let them back together, although he did put up a good fight. They like each other and lay beside each other when they are scared. The only reason they fight is for dominance and territory.

Thank you Noddy. If anyone has any other magical tricks feel free. I don't know what else to do to stop it. Other than seperate them until they are the same size.
