My little "Surprise Oscar" is doing very well. I have him in a 37 gallon Marineland Bio Wheel Tank. I also added an "In the tank" Whisper filter so it's filtered to about 80 gallons. He seems very happy, seems to like hiding in the plants, and is not sulking and is swimming all over.

I have noticed he seems to be hanging out in the corner closest to where I am. He is not begging for food, but seems to be watching me. His little eyeballs are moving to look at me, lol. If I put my hand near the tank, he gets behind the plant and peeks out, then slowly comes up to the glass and is looking at me again! Am I anthropomorphizing him or is he really curious about me?

He is just a baby, about 2" long. So cute!

I would say he is probably pretty curious about you too. Congrats on your new surpise O.

He seems scared, but curious enough to keep trying. His mouth is HUGE, lol.

I would agree, they are interested in us and what we are doing... Mine watch me about as much as I watch them! LOL...

That is why some people call them water dogs.

They are cute, lovable and adorable like dogs.

The only thing you can't do with them is hug them, and have physical contact with them.

I lay on my couch with my dog, I play with my dog, while I watch my fish watch me.

oscars are really curious fish and mine are always following the plecs around to see what they are up to. They too stare out of glass at me and seem happy when we enter the room. cute fishy's

it's so sweet how they get to know their owners, my Oscar that iv had for 4 years watches me as soon as I step onto the living room, and will sit as close to me as his tank will allow, yet as soon and my finace approches me he puts his fins ul and throws a tantrum... oh and, as bad as it sounds, he even let's me stroke him in the tank and eats out of my fingers, no other oscars in the tank would dare let that happen haha,

I was simply saying typically people don't pet their fish as a source of calming or comfort like you would a dog

You touch your fish to restrain them for the betterment of the other fish in your tank

You don't say, "I am gonna hug him, squeeze him, love him, and call him George" do you?

if there wasnt any glass in the tank and we lived underwater, my oscar would follow me around ALL DAY. everytime i move he gets exited and tries to swim through the glass facing me, its pretty cute and funny. since the tank is in my room he just watches me all day as i watch him as a matter of fact, hes watching me now!

ohh and he had his first meal worm today and loved it haha, he's growing at lightspeed and is big enough for them now

i remember saying that my oscar only loved me for my food and Noddy told me otherwise... he was right!! love
