my oscar is just a complete hazardto himself first things first he smashes his head on the corner of my filter now hes scraped all the inside of his belly and it looks reallly nasty the only thing i can think of is that my 70g tank has 3 internal filters and to be quite honest i really think i need to invest in a good external filter but to be honest ive only just got the knack of my internal filters( thanks to ofl admin) and now i must by an external 1. but theres so much variety on the market nowwa days aint there????
so if any1 can suggest a gd filter feel free

Is rather like asking people to recommend a vehicle. There are loads of external filters on the market, price ranges from fairly cheap, to several hundred pounds. So you have to decide on what your budget is. Don't just go for the cheapest filter you can find, think about long-term usage. If you can go for something like an Eheim, I would advise that. They are by far the best filtration units on the market. One of the professional external canister filters will give you years of trouble-free filtration. Including media, they will cost you well over £100. However, it's worth every penny. I would advise you to either find a really good deal on the Internet, or haggle at your local fish store. If they want your business, they should be able to come close to matching an Internet price.

But like I said, it really depends on your budget, in my opinion, you get what you pay for.

well as far as the scrape on my oscars bk goes its all healed well, and he seems fine and dandy OFL my water must be ok other wise he would get a nasty infection wouldnt he???? the only thing is and your not gonna believe this is that i have never ever done a water or ph test the only 1 i have ever done is ammonia and that was perfect it was the exact same colour as on the box for perfect

You should test regularly for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate and Ph

As for the your filtration you should aim for one that is at least rated for twice for tank size, so if you have a 70g go for a filter rated for a 140. Get the biggest filter you can afford- you cant overfilter.

dell boy you dont know any1 whos selling a 2nd hand external filter do you by any chance????????
