I wasn't sure where to post this but.. I got a blog: theoscartank.blogspot.com/

There isn't much on it yet, I've only just started this oscar keeping journey.. but watch it, add it as a fav. There will definitely be more soon!

Add ceramic media to the filter from my other aquarium which is healthy (not my qt tank obviously ) and mix that with some new media. Fill tank with water. Dose with water conditioner. I've never ever seen Prime on the shelves here, but a product called King British does the same. Grit teeth and pray that the filter works.. which it does:P
Now just wait..

I tested the water yesterday 24 hours after the filter was switched on and readings were:
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 2.0

Nothing spectacular yet of course as everything is just starting out

After a week I check the water again and if everything is safe, I add a few hardy fish such as minnows (In my other tank those few tester minnows have actually outlived some of my main fish!) More water tests and more patience and hopefully in 8 or so weeks everything will be safe for a baby oscar
(These tester minnows will be removed from the oscar tank when the baby eventually arrives)
