I cant see the video. The easiest way to post a video is to put it on youtube and then put the link in a post. You could also try one or more pictures.

Do the blotches have a cotton wool appearance?

ooops merged the wrong way round

That is not ICK. A fish with ICK has lots of white pin prick sized spots.

It is difficult to tell what it is. It could be HITH or an injury

Seeing as it only developed in the last few hours i would say it is an injury. Your fish has scraped himself on something in the tank causing the injury to the top of the head. Oscars often do this especially when young. This will heal quickly as long as your water quality is good

Did the other marks develop so quick or have they developed slowly

Can you test your water for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate

Ammonia-.25ppm, just put in some remover
Nitrite-0ppm
Nitrate- around 2.5ppm

waters alright, looking at the cut now, after some white stuff was swept away by water and looking at it now, it looks more like a cut on his head than HITH or ICK, but he has some white stuff in places hat look pretty hard to cut, like on a little behind the gill, next to his dorsa; fin...? i guess thats what to call it, and he does have some specs on his from balancing fin, its bigger than pin pricks though.

im gonna try to take pictures with my nice camera now, he's just VERY camera shy, so ill try

keep trying to asses what this is guys!

try a better vid/pic

Or you could search for HITH and compare what you find to your fish

HiTH indeed doesn't appear overnight, but develops gradually.
plus your waterparameters are good, if not to say excellent.
i cut is more likely if it turned up in one day.

Uhm, you stated EVERYTHING is at zero now???
there should at least still be some nitrates reading if you filter is working correctly.

btw if there's any decorations, that have sharp edges, it's best to remove those, before your fish hurts himself more, than he allready did.

im pretty sure its just cuts now, im keeping the water great and sorry noddy, when i stated everything was at zero i meant theoretical, i obviously will have small numbers of nitrate and nitrite but you get the gist. it hasnt spread and it doesnt show white anywhere, it was definitely was a cut, a pretty nasty one though. hes fine now, just a little scar but that should leave soon, if u read my other thread about sulking, i still dont know what caused it, but hes acting allright now, no more gasping

great guns =] good to hear

Re: fish fungus 1 year, 7 months ago #117184

Continue to keep a close eye on water readings as more than likely your tank is still in the process of finishing cycling. Seems as if you are still on a regular basis getting ammonia and detectable nitrite readings-- Keep up with the water changes and I think you mentioned you had seachem stability (?) before...I would continue to use that as well until you get higher nitrate readings and no detectable ammo/nitrite. Also, I would not use ammonia lock or any specific ammonia product...just use prime as the detoxifier. The wounds should heal up right quick with good water.
