Came home from from work oscar on the bottom.... before water test ammiona..1.0 nitrite 0 nitrate 10 ...after water change(70%) ammoina 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 5.0. nothing dune to start this...except move silver dollars out of tank last nite. The tank had been running perfect. (tank size 55 gal)

Did you move the silver dollars out of the tank, or into the tank? Sometimes you get little ammonia spikes and quite often it's difficult to work out why it happens. Have you switched your filter off for any period of time in the last few hours? Have you cleaned the filters at all? What is your pH?

Unless your pH is very very high, I don't think an ammonia of 1.0 is going to have a serious effect on the Oscar in a short period of time.

he may be just sulking from the removal of his mates...
but parameters are fine now,right?

any idea what is the nitrite and nitrate level????
ammonia at 1 coupled with stable pH can be tolerated as long as you
have 0 nitrite and below 20 nitrate...

OK SO I AM loseing it ........got home was thinking the worse..ammoina 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 10 ph7.8 Idid feed her shrimp two days ago there was some left over floating around could this have caused a spike?

Maybe a silly question but did you check the temperature? I have had heaters fail before and as the temperature decreases, the fish become inactive.

yes..... temp was/is holding steady at 78

yes, rotting food can cause your waterparameters to go off.
Allways best to remove any remains of uneaten food, if you notice the leftovers.
