Just a question. Is anyone feeding thier Oscars fresh fish? I dont mean live fish, or feeders as they are known but cubes of fresh or frozen fish. I would of thought that providing its fresh and free of bones, it would be the ideal diet. That is what the large public aquariums feed thier captives.
Bought from a co-op or fish market, it need not be expensive and could be frozen than scrapped into bite size bits. The down side could be that it could mess up the tank. Anybody?

I have fed cubes of mixed seafood such as krill, but I haven't fed them just fresh fish. However, it is certainly a very healthily option and I'm sure you're Oscars will appreciate it, so to speak

the other day, i bought some fresh chilled yellow fin tuna meat...
sliced some and tried to throw-in inside my tank... the problem is
i couldn't resist taking them myself. my fishes end up with frozen
fresh shrimps.....

but honestly, fresh fish meat is no difference with silver side fish

Ow,Paul, stop eating those poor fishes' food!
Our fish don't grow too big, our tank becomes too small!

When my Oscar were a bit smaller I trialed feeding them with sardines. I made sure to get the ones in brine as opposed to oil. It seemed to go down well with them and with no ill-effects but I stopped as it just made too much of a mess in the water. small canned prawns (shrimp) was a a better option for me.

I'm like Paul I'd end up eating the tuna before it got into the tank I'm a fan of it.

I was thinking of a fish with firm white, non fatty or oily meat. Flake (shark), king fish or spanish mackeral sprung to mind. These all freeze well to. You're right though, it would be a struggle to keep them away from the BBQ plate in my case...Yummy.
