Oscars usually love earthworms, i would say it there favourite food.

Can you test the water and post the actual results for Ph, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate. Does he look normal. Is he swimming normally? How old and how big is the oscar

The good news is that he is eating something. I suspect that he has either gone of/got bored with his food or maybe the water quality isnt good. How often do you do a water change

If the water is good try varying the food, try prawns, maggots, lance fish, meal worms, muscles, any small fish you can buy from the fish monger. Only feed the mashed flake once a week. Dont forget to remove any uneaten food

del boy thanks for reading this and i never fed my oscar or at least i never put any thing in the water for him to eat for about 2 half days, so in other words i starved him lol, nah but i tried him with sum more bloodworms and he did taake it its was probably he was fed up of the same thing wasnt he??????

your not gonna believe this but i have tested my water except for ammonia and that was perfect,

i dont like testing my water or should i say i dont like paying my retailers prices!!!!! he wants 18.99 for a test kit ,, and i know thats a con!!!!!!! another thing my oscar will not touch flake food unless i put it in summit and drip some water in it to make it clump together (sounds strange) then he will eat it???????? wah ya fink dell boy

this is wat my tank looks like without any gravel tell me wah ya fink??????
1 more fing can i use sand as in buiding sand or summit along those lines????????

All the test for ammonia will tell you is if your tank has gone thro the 1st part of cycling, and after that it will tell you if your filter is working and that you have enough filtration

Testing for both ammonia and nitrite will tell you if your tank is cycled and also if you have enough fitration

Testing for nitrates will tell you if you have been over feeding or not doing enough changes. If it gets too high then you know to increase the amount or frequency of water changes or reduce feeding

Buying a testing kit will be the best investment for will make. I wish i had got one when i first started keeping fish. It would of saved me a lot of hassle and heartache. I must admit i dont test my water for ammonia and nitrite very often because in a cycled tank this is always 0. The one i use the most is nitrate so if you dont want to spend loads at least by a nitrate tester

He may not be bothering with the flake when it isnt clumped as he probably dont think its worthwhile chasing a tiny crumb. I would stick to food that is a decent size for your oscar.

Your tank looks good but i think it would look better with a substrate

well ive put the sand in now and it looks amazing, the only thing i cant get the hang of is cleaning the sand with a gravel vac its like no matter how much i try, it just takes up the sand instead i suppose it like practice makes perfect any suggestions???????

try keeping the end of the gravel vac about 1/8" above the sand. you'll get the hang of it soon.
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!
