the other day i was at the lfs and saw a tank full of oscars. they were labeled "extremely rare. found in wild" they looked just like tiger oscars, but they had many more markings, almost like freckles. and the color of them was so beautiful. they were like a grayish/blueish/reddish, if that makes any sense. more blue they anything else though. they were about twice as much as a regular oscar, which still isnt much. im goin back tomorrow, i hope they didn't all sell cuz something tells me im not gonna be seing them again. im almost mad at myself for not buying one. i looked all over the web and found nothing like these. anyone seen these guys before? if i can pick one up ill be sure to post a pic.

I would have to see a photo to actually agree that they are from the wild. Maybe you could ask them how they came to that fact. I have attached a rather macabre photo of a wild Oscar. wild Oscars will vary in colour depending on where they come from and South America, however this will give you an indication of what they look like. The closest you'll get to wild Oscar is a tiger Oscar. wild Oscars tend to be somewhat darker in colouration. I personally would be very sceptical to whether they are wild or not.remember this picture is an adult, juvenile Oscars are often a different colour and change colour as they get older

i got it, it doesnt quite look like that o. i got a pic which isnt that good be lemme know what ya think. ill post it when i figure out how to. this o is actually lighter in color.

i also found it hard to believe that a newly established small fish store would get a wild o. they sold quick though. 2 tanks full a couple days ago now theres only about 5 left. either way, he looks nice and im glad i was able to get it

ok. i think i did that right. the pic is actually really bad. the whole fish has a blue tint to it, but u cant see it at all in this pic. the only camera i got is the one on my cellphone.

where the fish is black/grey its much lighter then the pic and also has a blue tint to it. and what appears to be a light red is red with a blueish/grey tint.

Like many creatures in the animal kingdom, juveniles have very different colouring to adults. I think you should wait for a while and see how the colouration changes, you might find that it looks completely different in a few months time.

ya, one of the main reasons i wanted it was to see how it would mature. im in the usa so everything in all the fish stores are all from breeders. kinda hard to believe a small shop would get something from the wild

That looks to me like a standard oscar. The white and black markings will eventually become the background 2 tone colour of an oscar. Any other colouring will develop later. I bought a fish like that once that was labelled wild and it turned out to be a standard tiger oscar
