yesterday i bought an 8cm albino tiger oscar, she is alot smaller than my other tiger oscar (20cm). is it normal for the larger oscar to frigten my albino? she is alot more placid than he is, could that be why?

if your new oscar has a place to hide from the bigger one it might be ok.the smaller one will be bullied from the bigger to show dominance however it should not last too long.how big of a setup have you got? the bigger it is, the more likely the smaller one will be able to stake out a piece of territory for himself.

that being said no one can predict how the older o will react to a roomate. keep an eye on things and hopefully they will work out fine.

the tank is large..
and had plenty of plants in it.
she has retreated to hiding behind a large plant
but when she is hungry and comes out to eat the larger oscar chases her away.

you can try feeding both o's on different end of the tank that way the smaller one will have a better chance of getting some food. also you can try feeding a mixture of floating and sinking foods and hopefully the smaller one will get enough.

Put some food on the right side of the water, when the big one goes for it put some food on the left side so the smaller one can eat it.
100 US Gallon Tank - 1 Tiger Oscar (Tiger);
1 Common Pleco

30 Gallon Tank - 4 Angels (1 Veil Tail, 1 Albino, 2 Marble)

Adding a second Oscar to a tank in which you have kept a solitary Oscar is a risky move. There are two reasons.
1)Oscars are territorial fish and will guard their areas which in your case is the tank that the Oscar is in. the larger of the two will see the smaller as an intruder and will constantly drive it away and even attack it.
2)you may have two males and this is a recipe for disaster as males will quite often fight with one another.
As your Oscar is a juvenile it may be that the other one is just establishing himself as the the boss in the tank you dont say how big the other one is. You may find that the larger one takes most of the food and the smaller one will grow much more slowly than the larger one

well i totally agrre with dinger if you have 2 males then thats why they are fighting especially if you have had one for a while and then you try to add a second its a disaster waiting to happen as oscars are very terrotorial

if i was you i would try to get a divider if things persist like you say they are atleast that wasy then you know that both of your oscars are feeding and they are both happy

how big is ur tank
270 ltr 4ft (FLUVAL 405)
6 baby blue acaras , 1 male and 1 female geophagus eartheaters...
2 plecs.

Well i have now had the new oscar for about 1 week and the older oscar has stopped bullying the young one. im happy that they stoped fighting and now are focused on the other fish. both oscars now follow eachother around the tank like they had been friends for life.

thank you all for you great tips i appreciate them all.
