I just wondered if they had simular sleeping patterns. My Oscar always sleeps at the same spot. He prefers the right top corner of his tank. I have never seen him sleeping in a different spot. He just hangs out at the surface of the water.

How about yours?

The only time I've seen my Oscars sleep thing is when I inadvertently put the light on. I think they were into groups huddled in the corner. In the wild, fish will probably find safe places to sleep so they are out of the way of nocturnal predators such as large catfish, they wouldn't just hang at the surface. I think this is why it's a good idea to put hiding places in your tank, you will often find the fish use them out of instinct

despite the many hiding spots i have for my firemouths, i always find my os sleeping on top of eachother in the front left corner. its the only open corner as well. i dont recall any patterns in the past but these guys are always in the same spot
