I am fairly new to keeping Oscars but I recently bought an Oscar and I was wondering what type he was. He is a hybrid, he is almost completely black but when shines in good lighting he has some red with black dots. He’s just a baby, he’s about 3in long. Do Oscar’s colors change as they mature? Do they get their tiger stripes as they mature?

yes, Oscars change colour as they mature. Baby Tiger Oscars are normally completely different to what they will be when they are adults. In many cases, they are more camouflaged in colour because they're obviously more venerable as babies.
