[file] [file] My tiger oscar has started to turn a pale/greeny sort of colour, and his eyes have gone very black, he is still eating but seems to hold the food in his mouth for a very long time(yesterday he still had food in his mouth two hours after he was fed.
I have recently added a eel-tail catfish to my 330litre(not sure what the conversion to gallons is) tank. About three days ago i came home and the oscar had a chunk out of his head and some scales gone. I assumed that he had tried to attack the catfish and hurt himself on the stick the catfish hides under.
It was after this happened that the oscar started to change colour. His head is nearly healed now but he just seems to get paler everyday, I have attached a couple of pictures i took this morning, any advice would be really appreciated. Thanks

the photos didn't appear on here unfortunately. Can you please use photo bucket, don't try and use the image tag on this website, it doesn't always display the photo properly.
Also, you need to test your water for ammonia, nitrite, nitrates and ph.
It really is very difficult to advise until we know that little bit more about the situation.
regarding the other fish you've got, I'm not really that on eel tail catfish but do recall having a discussion about them before somewhere on the forum. I think there are various species and I think some of them can get very big, far too big for your aquarium. If you can, try find out exactly which one you have got. by the way, your tanker is ground 70 gallons, and a really nice size for an Oscar and maybe a couple of smaller tankmates such as pictus catfish, but definitely not a big fish

Sorry, have just figured out how to post photos.
At the moment, the eeltail catfish is about 12inches long, the oscar is about 9-10inches, i wanted to get a tank mate for him, but the eeltail catfish was the only fish i found that was big enough that the oscar wouldnt try to eat it.
Thanks for your help:)

12 inches:ohmy: blimey, that's huge already. What type of filtration system have you got?

when you upload your photo to photo bucket, you will see all the images appear, the latest photo is always the top one on the left. If you look under the photo, there are four text fields, if you click on the bottom one, it will automatically copy the code for you, you do not need to manually copy any code. So just come here, left click and paste

This is a better picture.
The tank i have is a jebo3300, with the filter built inside the lid.
Thanks

I would strongly advise you to rehome the catfish, it will only end up with you having poor water quality. it sounds as if you've got bio wheel filtration. Not so common over here. Could you make your photos a little bit smaller before posting them?

given the size of your tank and filter I would rehome the cat, or u will have problems.. I think a 6-7inc mate will be ok with oscar he shouldnt eat them. checkout the site for tank mates and if you must have a cat get something a little smaller that will not grow to be a monster ). maybe try to do a deal at your local store.

Your oscar looks ok to me. Good body colour
I am in agreement with the others, the eel has to go, its just too big for your tank with an oscar
Get tankmates that dont get so big. I do understand the problem you have tho, any fish you can buy are small and would end up being eaten.
You can either shop around and hope to find more mature fish, get a smaller tank to grow them up in, or put a divider in to keep them apart until the new fish is too big to be eaten (this can take a while). You can always try asking a shop to get you larger fish in, sometimes they can do this but you have to trust them as you dont get a choice

i also agree with the majority. rehome the eel and if you feel the need for a tankmate for your oscar maybe try a mis size pleco.
