how long are you going away for? I have never used a pyramid feeder before, so I couldn't comment on how well they work. I think I really meant for small fish, not big fish like Oscars and plecos, I think you'll find that it won't last, you may also find that the Pleco will just eat the whole thing before it has a chance to dissolve, after all, they have got quite powerful mouths.

There are a few automatic feeders that you can put pellets in,, but again, I'd never used them myself so I can't give you the benefit of any experience.

just realized you are in Cornwall, these links are unfortunately a USA site. I think there are similar products available in the UK, I will have a quick look

Whereabouts in Cornwall do you live?

check this out, might be quite good, unfortunately little bit pricey

If you cant get anyone or anything to feed your oscar then they will be ok without food for a week, However they will be very very hungry when you get back
I can't get no sleep

i managed to buy a cheapish one off of e-bay that came today. it will only feed my oscar medium pellets and only about 20 pellets every 12 hours which i think will work out great
now i have 2 oscars...
im trial running it over the next few days just to see how well it works as it was very cheap
