I found a centipede -the non toxic type- wandering around my flat at night a coupleof days ago, dropped it in the Os tank. Didn't last two seconds. So far I feed them regularly -with bloodworms in gel, as well as freeze dried Jumbo shrimp- twice a week (unless I indulge them, which I try hard not to).

The best time to catch worms at night is if it's raining, or has been raining, you get absolutely millions of worms, snails and slugs. Obviously if it's not been raining, you can simulate the conditions by pouring water over the grass. I would fill a large watering can up so you have got plenty of water. Also, this may sound stupid but walk around the gardens stamping your feet after you have poured water all over it, have you ever seen seagulls trying to catch worms, this is exactly what they do. If you stamp your feet on the grass, the worms actually think it's raining and come to the surface. I think that's the theory anyway.
down in Devon, they have worm charming competitions every year. Teams take part in this event and try to catch as many worms as possible in something like 1 m square patch of grass in a couple of hours

why don't you get your self a composter? you'll have a never-ending supply of worms then, okay, they're not the great big lobworms you get on the grass at nights, but there are still a great meal for Oscars, and other fish as well. The best way to keep worms alive is in wet newspaper and pop them in the fridge.

you could always have a compost heap for your kitchen food waste [not cooked/uncooked meats]. If you go to a gardens centre you probably find they sell compost bins. Just put it somewhere in your garden and put stuff like eggshells, old vegetables etc in it, it would be very long before the worms make it into their new home

Easy way to catch worm is old cardboard box made flat,or bit of carpet, potato sliced, or old veg, wet your grass, place potato over area, then wet you cardboard place on top and leave but keep it wet or damp.( dont try this in the middle of your nice lawn or you will hate me cos it kills your grass) should take a few days.
