i have noticed for a while now that my oscar keeps getting white scale and has a few missing every now and then..there is nothing in my tank that i thought could do this..

well i figuired it out today..its my pleco thats doing it..they were both hiding today and i was cleaning the gravel then they both panicked then when i looked at the oscar he was all scrached up and there were scales floating in the tank.

the pleco had obviusly scratched up next to him and damaged him..poor oscar

some plecs can grow very big, hope you choose something thats not going to become a monster.))

its a commen pleco so he is 12 inches at the mo but im informed he will get to 18 lol

common plecos get absolutely massive, I've seen them well I've are 18 inches before. They are also built like tanks

at least my oscar wont eat him lol

the prob with common plecos is that they create huge amounts of waste in the tank. i personally like plecos however the big ones can get to big and the tank requirements for them are huge and there are better tankmates to choose from

i only chose him because of his size, my oscar likes to eat plecos and this one he will never be big enough to even try to eat.. plus my shop dont have a huge choice of large plecos unless i was willing to spen like £150 on one and they are not armoured so i didnt want to spend that much and have oscar chew it to bits..
