Ok. i just got 2 Oscars yesterday. Im new to the whole oscar thing. There about 8-9 inches long. At the pet store they came from 2 different tanks, but the owner did not know whether they were boys or girls, because its hard to tell whenever they are grown (right)? Well, i bring them home and i put them into the tank and about 3 hours after that, they start acting wierd (well too me). It starts off with both of them coming towards eachother and vibrating/quivering their tails. Then they start opening their mouths and they go head on like that, its rather wierd to me. So i sperated them. , i didnt know if that was the right thing to do. does anyone have any suggestions? i think they might have been trying to breed..

what your describing is normal oscar behaviour. it could be part of mating ritual or just a dominance type thing . the best thing to do is to keep an eye on them and see what develops

if there is no fighting or injuries i would leave them be. seperating them should only be used if one is harming the other.
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!
