My oscar Lamo seems to grow slowly.


Anyone got any huge oscars?


Was wondering how to get them as big as possible. Im hoping for a 13 inch ++!

How old is your oscar? my oscars are now 19 months and they are 15 in. & 14 in. respectively.

Iv only had him for about 1 month. hes bout 2 inch rite now.

For the record, I am now in the process to understand raising oscar fish. OFL, ricky, marcus, etc, all of them helps me understand what I am doing in a premitive way. I am contemplating to have another aquarium and do what they are doing in parallel with what I am doing. I will try to find out and compare.

There are a few things you need to do to make a oscar or any fish for that matter reach full size. Most important is water conditions, and this means low in nitrates. when a fish poo's or wee's it releases a chemical to stump growth,This is a safty mec to stop fish becoming too lare for its surroundings. A good diet, high in protien but balanced with a good mix. and last is a tank to match the size of fish. this is why its best not to overstock.Overstock and your fish will be small,as it all works together. overstock = poor water = stressed fish = fish dont eat well = poor growth.

marcus has given you the best advice for growing a fish to its full potential. clean water, good diet, lots of fitration and a big tank is what is needed for your oscar to reach its maximum size. remember that fish are like people not every one will grow to the 16 in mark and they do not all grow at the same rate
