TOPIC: How often do you feed your oscars?

How often do you feed your oscars? 3 years, 7 months ago #17498

OK so I've heard like 3 diffrent stories, LFS says for mÝ 3-4 inch tiger: pellets once a day 3 times a week and mollies once a week. My hikari (spelling?) Gold says dailÝ.
Any way what's right for a small oscar all the way to a big oscar do feedings become more frequnt when there larger?

of course food manufacturers are going to tell you to feed three times a day, they obviously want to sell their product.

In the wild, Oscars will reproduce during the rainy season when there is plenty of food around. You can feed an Oscar three times a day until it is up to around 4 inches, then I wouldreduce that to around twice a day. Once they reach approximately 7 inches, you don't need to feed them any more than once a day.Want to Oscar reaches maturity then I would feed it sparingly. Fish can go without food for many many weeks, sometimes months. In the South American rainforests, they have no choice in the dry season when many fish get trapped in the Lakes that have hardly any water in them, let alone food for them to eat. So don't let anyone tell you that fish need to be fed every day, they do not. It is better to under feed a fish than overfeed it.

I feed my O's 2 to 3 times a day 11" and 6". Feedings actually are suppose to become less frequent as they mature but you can't prove it by my two. Young O's should be fed small amounts often. Just wondering are the Mollies food for the O's? If they are there's really no reason to give them feeders. They don't have allot of nutritional value and they may increase aggressive tendencies in your O. Oscars in the wild eat mostly insects and vegetation.

my oscars are being feed every morning only.
quantity should be enough for two to three
minutes grabbing. Any excess could trigger
water problem or filtration problem.
i am also afraid of overfeeding.
