I've had my two oscars now for about a month and these guys dont stop begging for food!! I use the three minute rule three times a day since they are still babies, but still when I pass the tank they start begging for food. I feel bad and want to feed them but then I dont want the ammonia levels to rise do to over feeding. What should I do????

They don't get full. You don't want to overfeed them.

oscars are the professional beggars of the fish world. they never get tired of begging for food.if you are following the three minute feeding rule i wouldnt worry about them as they will be getting plenty to eat. jsut remember to cut the amount of times you feed them per day as they get older.
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!

while still young, let them beg for foods.
you can train them to always come near you
whenever you are around. my oscars act like
that, begging for food whenever they see me.

i suggest you start hands-feed them stick
by stick. you can touch them later.

If it were for mine, I would run out of food in a couple of days. I enjoy feeding them, but I know I would hurt their long term health if they go obese.

This question makes me wonder:

What would be the healthy body mass index range for Oscars? At what point are they overweighted? or obese?

I don't weight my fish, but I saw that someone here does, it's in this person's signature.
