Well I recently got a baby Albino Oscar and when I first got it,it was swimming very well in the 55 gallon tank with a few,Gourami's. Then today when I got home it's not swimming much it just lays down by the bottom of the tank and by a rock hiding itself. But,the thing is about 5 days ago it was swimming very very well like it was the boss of it's tank and the,Gourami's were always by it protecting it from,Tyke.Tyke never saw any intentions of eating the baby just the normal pecking here n there but,Tyke is about 3 inches bigger than the baby so I am wondering wat's going on and could it be that it's just too shy to move around and not wanting to be picked on again? I've putted it in the smaller 10 gallon for a few months til things get solved and it's moving again

I figure Tyke is another Oscar. Your albino is likely severely stressed. Keep your eyes on him/her for a couple of days. Keep the lights off 24/7, feed sparingly, and monitor your water parameters.

Your little one has no chances, in my opinion, in defending from the big guy/gal. If Tike is not an Oscar, please discard what I write next.

You are trying to keep 2 Oscars in a 55gal tank, which at best is 48" long. Not a good idea for two Oscars. I wasn't the one who made up the "one Oscar only, and no tank mates, in 55gal tank". So far that statement holds water.

A 10gal tank set up to house a baby Oscar is a challenge. Given your albino growth stays within the norm of 1" length per month, its body will grow wider and taller too. If you get a filter system that can handle the massive bio-load a 3" Oscar will place there, you will be very lucky.

I wish you could get a six footer so you keep your Gouramis in your 55 and see how things unfold between your two Oscars.

I happened to be a very lucky guy. My two youngsters Tiger Oscars ended up pairing-off and hatched their first fry a month ago. They seem to be getting ready for trial #2.
