in the wild, oscars devour anything that moves.
in captivity, our concern is the parasite infestation.
if you are not sure of the source, snails are usually
a host of dangerous parasite that would compromise the
health of your fishes, so better watch out. other than
that i believe it would be okey.

What type of snails are you feeding your Oscars? You've got to be careful with some snails, they can literally take over of your tank in no time at all and then you have a real problem eradicating them. The worst culprit is the Malaysian trumpet snail. These guys are live bearers, it only takes one snail to create several thousand in no time at all.

i have crushed land snails and give them to my fish. One eats them the other one dont like them. also i tried live plants a few times and these came with snails, but the oscars made short work of them. As OFL has pointed out some snails are hard to remove from your tank.

My Oscars enjoy ocassional snacks of Apple Snails juveniles. They had even swallowed a few that fell into the tank before I crushed them, only to spit them afterwards.

My Apple Snails breed easily in the Angelfish tank, to the extent that I had to separate the adult ones since a couple of successful hatching overcrowded the tank in a matter of weeks. I have 200+ juvenile Apple Snails there.

Mystery Snails may be easier to breed though but they will likely eat all vegetation in a planted tank.

I once raised Ramshorn snails but turned that project off since newborns somehow ended up in the HOB impeller (I ruined one AquaClear 50 that I hope to fix with Epoxy one of this days).

Trumpet snails... in a word: a pest!

I agree on that. I also would like to share our experienced
with golden snails, an accidental release to the wild causes
the whole archipelago infestation affecting our vast agricultural
land. until now, our government is trying to find out on how to
eradicate them without affecting other living things in the field.
