The one withou vivid markings came from petsmart labeled Albino..The lighter one with vivid markings was from LFS and was labeled Lemon Oscar...They bothe look good to me and need help deciding on which to keep? They are not fighting and seem to be buddies? Is this normal because i have read 2 is bad.

nice pick over there. i like them both. by any chance,
how big is your tank. if you have 75 gal size, you can keep
both for a year until they outgrow your tank. however, it
requires full dedication on water change.

3 is bad number not two... but tank size plays important role
too. in 3, once pairing is established, the outcast will be
beaten up. i believe you have 2 lutinos.

55 gal is good for one adult oscar with smaller
tankmate. housing two oscar in it will stunt the
growth and invite trouble. O's produces a lot of
bioloads and eventually needs frequent water change.
filtration wise, you have more than enough.

ha ha ha.... give-in to your girl.... for that,
you will hit two birds in one shot.. two of you will
take care of it..... but for the meantime, you can
keep both..... controlled feedings, regular water change,
and dedicated filter cleaning (one at a time, 1 wk interval)
they will be fine for the next 12 months. by then, perhaps
you will be ready for upgrade trading the small tank.

i agree with paul, kinda, on this one. if you keep the one your girl likes then you might be able to get her to help with the care and maintenace of it. the only thing i disagree with is the length of time which you can keep both for. i would say that a 55 gallon tank will only be able to house 2 oscars for about 5-6 months before the bioload become to much and your water changes start to become unbearable.

just my opinion

btw both are good looking oscars
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!

my goal is simple a complete understanding of the universe, why it is as it is and why it exists at all

that is common notion. my wife doesn't for my
oscar and never lift a finger to feed them. then
one time, she came near the tanks and see all fishes
wiggles their tails facing her through the glass.
she came rushing to me and wake me up to feed them.

today, she manage to feed them with out my knowledge.

my partner wont help me clean our tank... he's the one who wanted O's in the first place, (cuz the fish shop owner said they were the closest living relative to a piranha that is legal to keep in aus.)
now im left with caring for them, but i would never give them away
other pets are my colt (Freddo Frog), my staffy (Tank) and my boxer x,(Steph)
