i have 2 baby oscars that seem to have small blue markings i bought them from a rather large company so all the ones at the store would have blue if they were dyed out of curious concern should i be worried or just i just wait till they are older and attempt to breed and see if they are possubly going through a biological change?

welcome to the site.

as a rule, no one could ever tell the color pattern
of a baby or juvinile oscar. they will change the color
as they grow up. when i've got my oscar, they were clasified
as tifer oscar. however, they grow up as colorless or white
oscar but not an albino. they look like as if soaked to a gallon
of white paint.

Why don't you post a photo of them? Juvenile Oscars are always a different colour from adults.

i had a tiger oscar with very fine redish blue paterns, it was about double the price of a normal oscar it was sold to me as a "wild caught tiger oscar" it was very pretty so i had to get it. i was very curious to see how his color developed as he matured but, unfortunately, he didnt make it. maybe this is simular to what you have? post a pic!

ive also seen "blueberry oscars" im pretty sure they were dyed. they were albinos with a blueberry colored blue

dyed color fish is cruelty but some lfs
do it to trade their merchandise. we, pet
lovers can only do much in caring once we
got them.

one good pictures requires a lot of shots.
i my self is not good in photography but new
technology (digicam)give me pleasure in taking
those shots, edit, delete and post what ever i
feel is ggod to me:laugh:
