Hi, had my Oscar about 3 months, when I first got him, I fed him on Tetradoromin, 3 times a day (while he was a pup) then changed it to twice, I gave him treats like live fish, bloodworm, shrimp or crickets every now and then.

In the last two weeks I have noticed he will not touch the tetra, I'll throw one in and he will just spit it all out through his gills, but loves crickets and Locust or anything alive.

So I have been feeding him a mainly cricket and Locust diet, I even fed him nothing for 3 days but the tetra sticks and he still spits it out??

Is it ok, to have him on an all live diet?

In the wild, oscars wil feed mainly on live food which include many critters that live in the rainforest. So if you vary the live food, they will get all the goodness they need. However, a good quality pellets is always recommended as part of their diet. I would avoid feeder fish, if you're going to feed live food, stick to things like crickets, grasshoppers, any little bugs you can find. Meal worms are also a great source of food. If you leave them for a couple of weeks, they turn into little black beetles which Oscars absolutely love.

He likes wax worms, but wont touch meal worms:/

We have Bearded Dragons too, so have all those on tap, he is about 6 inches and a bully, for ever picking on my gold spot Pleco.

I breed my own feeder fish so no worry of disease

Layoff the pellets for a while and then try again. Because a lot of the pellets contain various vitamins, it's always a good idea to have these as part of the Oscars main diet. Obviously some Oscars are very stubborn and it can be like getting children to eat their vegetables, virtually impossible. But it is a good idea if they will accept pellets.
