I saw it once in YouTube too but I don't think I'm made to feed mine that way.

i do feed my oscar with small mice but not that
pinkys. i used to catch rodent at home 1 to 1.5
inches long, i always gave them to my oscar. but
i do not want to video such activity.... even the
caterpillar, i do not want to show how my oscar
ripped them off whenever i put them in tank.

just wondering, isn't there a risk that "wild" rodents have diseases and bacterias. i mean, they eat crap!
personally i don't see the point in feeding my oscars with rodents.

yea i know.... but they were caught inside my house
so instead of throwing them away, i just pitch them
inside the tank.....

in my case, i just do it because those mice
were homegrown too, not from the outside of
the house.

i understand that, but why go and buy pinkies when you can get a whole crappin' bag of cichlid staple for half that much? not to mention it's about 10 times healthier???

that is what i am thinking too. in my case, i do
it because it is free. if i'm going to buy those pinky's
i would rather buy the most tested and proven formulation
for fish keeping.

Personally, I think it's cruel, and pretty horrid to watch.
I just think of what they would eat in the wild...other fish, worms, bugs etc.
Maybe the occasional mouse, but that'd be pretty rare.

Plus they haven't come from an environment which you have contained, so hopefully they don't have any weird diseases??

Anyway, hope ur fishes are good!!

Its hard to fly like an eagle when you are surrounded by turkeys
