its verry hard to tell from your pic but i think it could be the startings of finrot ....is your ammonia zero ppm in the tank as high ammo will burn the fins right off your fish .....the reason for me saying finrot is he only has it on the fins????? look at the pinned thread in emergency section called fish disease pictures and se if your problem is listed there to give us a better idea as the pic is nt to good ..............

No, it looks like a fungal type infection. My Oscars have had this on occasions . I don't think it's anything to worry about, just treat your tank with a fungal medication and hopefully that will help.

thanks guys!...i looked at the emergency portion, and found that the fungas is the closest it looks like, but definatley not that bad!....i guess i will head to the store tomorrow and check the water condition(test) and get some sort of fungas meds!..thanks for all the info, have been doing aot of reading!...first thing is to also get a larger tank on the go!...this tank is only 20 gallons and is a real pain to clean!..i think that will solve 99% of my problems! larry

ps. i took a bunch of pics already, but only this one really turned out! cheap dig!

hi larry, pristine water is the first and foremost
defense against any fish diseases. you have to check
the water parameters before any medication.

hi again..good news..oscar has"almost" got rid of the fungas growth..i used "fungas cure, API, and looks like it is doing the trick!...also, got some stuff to test the water..nitates off the map(not surprising), everythink else normal...tests now show nitrates about 60-80, so still bringing that down with water changes!..oscar gets a new --bigger tank in a month, so will just be extra dilegint witht he water changes! thanks everyone! larry

glad to hear your oscars healing:) but you need them nitrates under 30 so biger more frequent waterchanges are in order......and a weely waterchange will keep them down once you get them there ........

What was you ammonia levels?
im glad to hear he/she is getting better, like biggamehunter said, once your levels are ok, just try and make sure you keep up to scratch with your water change weekly.
