my wife and i went to the casino last night when we retuned home are new baby oscar was on the floor almost dryed up. we looked and saw it gasp for air so i put it back in the tank and gently moved it back and forth and it came back to life!! its been one day and he looks like he is doing good but i think it might have gone blind in one eye

Sorry that happened.
Lesson learned: KEEP YOUR TANK SEALED OFF COMPLETELY!
even the smallest gap can have your Oscar jump out of the tank.
This does not only happen to small O's, but also the bigguns.
We still have too many threads of jumping O's ,with not the best endings in most cases.
Let's hope your O survives.
And i want to tell you , O's can survive with one eye very well in a tank environment, so that's your "luck" atm...if you want to call that luck.
Keep us informed.

Sorry to hear you had a jumper! Hope that eye clears up!! It might have gone dry while he was out of the water. Like Draco said, there is a chance he will heal and have use from it!

Always tape up all small gaps where pipes ect are. They can find there way out of the smallest gap.

What I do is I put duck tape around the back of the tank where the lids are (do it neat and unnoticeable) mine is display quality but I make it look good.
Just make sure there are lids..... and they are good fitting and etc.

I have a problem with my African Cichlids jummping out, so what I did is I made a huge wooden lid with 2 holes (plut a small piece of glass on that) and so I put the food through those holes, if that makes sense, looks great and its also in the living room, the family loves it.

So my suggestion, have good lids that wont break or allow your Oscar and othher fish to jump out.
Or, easy enough, make a lid up out of wood, atleast if you do that you know you made it and know is safe.
