A good high quality pellet food (such as Hikari Gold) should be the staple diet fed on a regular basis and you can supplement as treats some of the other foods. Freeze Dried foods are excellent and less messy then frozen cubed food. Some foods have "color enhancers" good for bringing out your Oscars colors too...

You've got a nice selection of food there. I wish I could get mealworms and crickets here, maybe they do sell one, haven't seen them though. I like the look of those large freeze-dried krill as well, how big are they?

Well, if you've ever ordered a shrimp salad for yourself and it has small whole shrimp in it, that's about the size. These would be slightly bigger then an adult mans thumbnail. They almost look good enough to nibble on yourself I think as a crunchy treat.....(They're at least as big as those crickets in the jar at the left)

As for the other worms and crickets there, visit www.flukerfarms.com/index.asp?PageAction...OD&ProdID=33
located in Louisianna, USA but sold at many Pet outlets here.

(I'll ship to you remember, strictly at cost. Just ask..)

It is always a good idea to vary Oscars diet anyway. Baby Oscars will have a voracious appetite and will try and eat anything you put in the tank. You'll be surprised how much they can eat as well. You can feed them from small pellets to shrimp, small fish, bloodworm, anything that you feed large Oscars really, just cut them up if they are too big.

i started my o's on pelletsjust like what you have there.i was told to feed them a variety.so they have live about 1 time a week.they eat the frozen cubes which they really like, were going to try freeze dried this week.my problem is now they dont want the pellets.this will pose a problem when we get ready to go camping because we want use an automatic feeding system.we camp about 20 miles away and dont want to drive back everyday.also how long can they go without food?i dont want to starve them. thank you

oscars can go without food for a couple of weeks genrally when they import oscars they stop feeding them 3days b4 they bag them so they dont poo in the bag and they sit in that bag for a couple weeks b4 they reach the lfs and then they sulk 4 a couple of days b4 they eat.
so yes they can go without food 4 a while
