Yesterday morning, I was lying in bed, awake, but not wanting to get up. My oscar can see me. The tank is parallel with my bed. I heard him/her jump up and hit the lid of the tank . SHE'S ONLY 4"!! I would of not been surprised if she/he were larger. When do I need to put a weight on the lid to keep my oscar from getting out?

the fish will jump out of the tank if theres no lid ....but you should be ok if you have a condensation barrier inside and a lid.....

My 2 oscars are about 5 and half inches now and they have never tried the jump yet, expect when its feeding time, both of them put a show on like a pair of dolphins, both jumping in and out of the water, its funny to watch

Hi.. don't worry my baby has around 10 inches a he call me when he has hungry. I know is incredible but is very true. He jump and hit the lid, if I don't come with food he continue jump until I bring a food. And in the night if I turn off the light of my living room, where is the tank, he begin moving the tail and did it a big wave inside the tank, you see drops of water come outside of the tank and I need stop in front of the tank and bring food. Every night I bring food and after that I turn off the light. Conclusion she know who are you.

I was still in bed trying to to sleep some more. I guess it was a stupid idea to put an oscar tank so close to my bed.

He's/She's only done it once, and he/she is about 4". I can't imagine what will happen at 8+ Don't tell me please, unless you have solutions,I have no way of moving the tank until we move to another house.

Oscars will jump and hit the lid on occations, there's not much you can do about it. Don't lose sleep about it they'll be ok, even when they do get bigger.
