every time i reach my hand in my tank to clean the rocks or fix an ornament that fell over my two oscars freak out and sink to the bottom and lay on their side. as soon as i am done they start acting normal again. why is this and is there any way i can get them used to my hand. this is really wierd to me because i can basically hand feed my oscars so i don't know why they freak out so bad.

how long your oscar have been with you?
it is very easy to make your oscar be happy
whenever they see you. starve them for two days,
and give them food while putting your hand inside the
tank. in no time, your oscar will always wiggle their
body every time they see you.

my oscar used to bite my arms whenever i reached some
thing inside the tank.

I've had my o for a while. But when i first got him he did the same thing.
I just put my hand in before the feeding. He started to tell the difference in days. Don't have a problem now. well...sometimes he's just a little bastard
and almost "plays" with me?? I use that loosely. But he wont do
it to my gf, he bolts for his cover.

I think the easy way to make your fish friendly is dont push too hard. I mean dont force your hand into its space, put you hand in the other end of tank and wait for them to come to you. Be ready to be bitten and try not to pull away as sharp movement will put the process back as it will scary the fish. a small bit of meat given to them will increase the speed as they soon learn your hand means nice food.

Like Marcus said, try lowering your hand into the tank from the other end but with some meat or meal worm in your hand, but dont ram your hand straight in, lower it gently and let them see what your doing because you could be scaring them.
dont worry though, before long they'll be eating out your finger tips
