My oscar has been taken over by hole HITH disease and they said it is now just a matter of time. We've tried medications a number of times and it doesn't help.
He now has started random shaking or convulsing. Is this the time to let him go?

sorry to know your current situation. i am not sure if
we could still help but nevertheless, we need the following
info:
tank size?
water reading - ammonia?
nitrite?
nitrate?
pH?
temp?
any tank mate?
what medication had you applied?

on the onset of HITH, pristine water is the first and
foremost approach to comfort your fish.

does he/she still taking foods?
what filter do you have? capacity?

sorry for those questions. this is the only way we can help you.

good to know he/she is isolated for now. there is a myth that
carbon the filtering system usually cause HITH if not regularly
replaced. there is no scientific proof yet but people in the
line of hobby comes to believe on that.

if you have isolating tank, add pure salt at a ratio of 1 tablespoon
per 25 gal of water (others do it at 1T:5gal), raised temp to 80 deg,
ripple the discharge of pump to aerate the tank.
